BLACKSBURG, Va. – On September 1, PRISM, Pamplin’s next-generation marketing firm, announced that it is launching a new logo as a part of a total brand refresh to celebrate the organization’s 10th anniversary. The new branding initiative will be implemented in the fall of 2020.
Led by Kendyl Florence, a team of designers have been spending the past year collaborating on this massive design project. Beginning the creative process in the fall of 2019, the team has come a long way from their initial mockups.
After months of hard work, a team of graphic designers, which included the likes of Charlotte Canon, Mackensie Hessler, Megan Monroe, Reagan Adams, Nina Morris, Pierina Galvez, Rebecca Miller, Tam Hoang and Adam Caporuscio, received approval for their pitch in the spring of 2020 and finalized their new and improved logo in August.
“The design process was very research-heavy and iterative, we wanted to represent PRISM’S evolution and past in the mark and colors while also refocusing on accessibility,” said Charlotte Canon, creative director of PRISM. “Tam, Adam and Kendyl led the PRISM designers through numerous research presentations and iterations this past school year. Over the summer, the design team and I worked together to finalize the mark, choose [the] colors and create a final animation.”
PRISM hopes that this new logo will serve as a refresh to not only their visible brand but to their culture as well. Per usual, the group of marketing mavens strive to shake things up and reignite the passion and excitement that all PRISMites have for their organization.
For this same reason, the designers decided to keep the fundamental concept of PRISM’s old logo while modernizing and simplifying the shape. This is parallel to PRISM remaining true to its roots, while constantly progressing and evolving their culture, work and brand.
“This project has been my baby and I have been so excited and inspired to watch it come to fruition,” said Florence. “I am so excited to see the response to the rebrand and all of the inspiration it sparks within the organization. I am also really excited about our plans this spring to officially celebrate our anniversary and look forward to all of the alumni and current-member engagement.”
In addition to the brand refresh, the student-run marketing firm will also be hosting a virtual 10-year anniversary celebration and multiple virtual workshops for students interested in marketing this year.
